Whether dead or alive, Baghdadi no longer a threat in Iraq: PMU commander

One of the top commanders of the Popular Mobilization Units (var. Hashd Al-Sha’abi), Karim Al-Nouri, told Sputnik News on Monday that it does not matter whether the Islamic State’s (ISIS) infamous leader, Ibrahim Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, is alive or dead, as he is no longer a threat to Iraq.

“It’s clear that the case of Baghdadi being alive or dead is not important as the militant group in Iraq has been eliminated,” Nouri stated.

“His presence no longer endangers the Iraqi security,” the PMU commander would conclude.

Several conflicting reports have surfaced recently about Baghdadi’s status, with some Iraqi officials claiming that he was seriously wounded in July.

Regardless of his health, the terrorist commander has been forced into hiding after his forces lost all of their strongholds in both Iraq and Syria.
