The Gaza Media Office reports that the toll from the ongoing Israeli military campaign in northern Gaza has reached approximately 5,000 Palestinians who have either been killed or are unaccounted for over the last 100 days.
According to a medical source cited by Al Jazeera on Sunday, the Israeli military offensive in northern regions initiated in early October has resulted in injuries to an additional 9,500 Palestinians.
On Sunday, the Government Media Office in Gaza described the Israeli siege as an egregious example of ethnic cleansing, displacement, and destruction.
Journalists have described northern Gaza as a “ghost area,” marked by extensive devastation and debris.
A spokesperson reported that Palestinians are being systematically targeted throughout the Gaza Strip, regardless of their location. Whether in schools, shelters, temporary camps, or hospitals, the targeting persists, she stated.
The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has reported highly distressing events over the last 100 days, describing the experiences of the people in northern Gaza as encompassing severe violence, ethnic cleansing, extensive damage, and widespread displacement.
In late December, Kamal Adwan Hospital became a target amidst the ongoing conflict, as it was reportedly set on fire and severely damaged by Israeli forces during the siege.
In a recent airstrike on Sunday, at least five individuals lost their lives and numerous others sustained injuries following an Israeli aerial bombardment targeting a Palestinian residence in the al-Shuja’iyya neighborhood, located to the east of Gaza City.
A previous strike resulted in the death of at least one Palestinian in the vicinity of the Nuseirat refugee camp, located in central Gaza. Additionally, Israeli artillery targeted multiple locations throughout Gaza, causing an undetermined number of casualties.
In October 2023, Israel initiated a military operation in Gaza, resulting in the reported deaths of 46,565 individuals and injuries to more than 109,000.
