Science must develop humane values

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People says the main objective of acquiring knowledge and developing technology is to obtain humane values and defend the rights of the oppressed.

“We pursue science to achieve true authority and to raise the flag of justice and humanity in the world, so that we can defend the oppressed and fight oppression and oppressors,” Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday.

The Leader said the Islamic establishment’s aim achieving scientific progress differs from the objectives pursued by the West, as Western countries have wrought disasters in the course of their progress.

“The Western objective behind scientific progress was to gain wealth and in this path (pursuit) they did violate the rights of nations in India, Africa, East Asia and Latin America and did not observe ethics or faith in their dealings with them,” said Imam Khamenei.

The Leader described oppression and ignoring the basic rights of other nations as the result of the incorrect aims of science in the West.
