Yemeni air defense forces successfully intercepted and neutralized another US MQ-9 Reaper drone

Yemeni air defense forces have successfully intercepted and downed an American MQ-9 Reaper drone engaged in hostile operations within the airspace of Ma'rib province, located in the west-central region of the country.

In a televised address on Wednesday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, delivered an official announcement.

He reported that a Yemeni-made surface-to-air missile successfully downed an American aircraft conducting a reconnaissance drone mission in the region.

On December 28, Yemeni forces successfully intercepted and downed a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over the central province of al-Bayda, according to a statement by Saree.

In a televised address, Saree announced that a locally-manufactured surface-to-air missile successfully engaged and targeted the unmanned aerial vehicle.

In response to the ongoing conflict in Gaza that began on October 7, 2023, Yemeni groups have launched attacks on Israeli and American targets, expressing solidarity with the Palestinians amid intensified hostilities. These actions also come as a reaction to perceived aggression by American and British forces against Yemen.

The Ansarullah resistance movement in Yemen has reportedly been targeting vessels associated with Israel, the United States, or the United Kingdom. This is seen as part of efforts to compel the Tel Aviv regime to halt its ongoing military operations in Gaza, which have been described as genocidal.

The ongoing operations have successfully brought activities at Eilat port, located to the south of the occupied territories, to a halt, leading to notable economic repercussions for Israel.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have declared their commitment to continue military operations until Israel ceases its ground and aerial assaults in Gaza.

According to recent reports, Israeli military operations in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 45,541 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, with an additional 108,338 individuals sustaining injuries since the conflict began.
