The Yemeni Armed Forces announced Monday they successfully confronted and neutralized a significant portion of an Israeli aerial assault on the port city of Hodeidah.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said in a statement early Monday that Yemeni air defenses “effectively confronted the Israeli aggression and forced a large portion of its formations to withdraw.”
According to Saree, the defense operation utilized a “large batch of locally manufactured surface-to-air missiles,” which he claimed caused “great confusion among the enemy pilots and their operations rooms.”
Saree affirmed the readiness of Yemeni air defenses to face future Israeli attacks and sought to reassure the public and regional allies of the military’s high state of preparedness and capability.
He added that the attacks would not impact their military capabilities and that “support operations for Gaza and Palestine will continue at a rapid pace.” Saree reiterated their commitment to defending Yemen.
The Israeli attack at dawn on Monday reportedly targeted the city’s power station and several ports in Hodeidah.
