Yemeni Armed Forces Target US Destroyer, Washington Confirms Attack

Yemeni Armed Forces staged on Tuesday a new pro-Palestine strike, this time on two US destroyers in the Red Sea, with Washington’s CENTCOM confirming the attack later on Wednesday.

In a statement, Spokesperson of the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree declared that Yemen’s naval forces, missile force, and drone air force carried out “qualitative military operation targeting two American warships in the Red Sea” in which they used naval missiles and drones.

Saree said the attack was “in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and as part of the response to the American-British aggression” against the Arab country.

The spokesman reiterated that the Yemeni Armed Forces “will not hesitate to expand their operations against all hostile targets, in support and assistance to the Palestinian people who are still under aggression and siege to this moment.”

“The operations of the Yemeni Armed Forces will not stop until the aggression ceases and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted,” Brig. Gen. Saree added.

For its part, US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed a attack on a US destroyer in the Red Sea.

It claimed that the CENTCOM forces “shot down one anti-ship ballistic missile and three one-way attack unmanned aerial systems” launched from Yemen toward USS Carney (DDG 64) in the Red Sea.

Earlier on Monday (March 4), the Yemeni Armed Forces struck an Israeli container ship in the Arabian Sea in addition to a number of US warships in the Red Sea with a number of missiles and drones.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have staged, since late November, dozens of attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in the Rea Sea. The attacks have been in solidarity with the Palestinian people and resistance who have been under brutal aggression by the Israeli occupation since October 7th.
