Yemeni Army Launches Attack on US Warships, Including Aircraft Carrier USS Harry S. Truman, in Red Sea

The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced their accountability for a sequence of targeted attacks on US naval vessels, including the USS Harry S. Truman, in the Red Sea. These actions have been framed as a countermeasure to what they describe as American aggression in Yemen.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the official spokesperson for Yemen’s military, announced on Sunday morning that the nation’s armed forces engaged in three military confrontations with United States vessels within the last 24 hours.

Saree announced that the counter-offensive maneuvers included the Yemeni military’s missile force, air force’s drone unit, and naval forces. The operations employed a variety of domestically-engineered cruise missiles and combat drones.

A high-ranking Yemeni military official emphasized that the nation’s armed forces remain committed to advancing their defense capabilities and are prepared to respond to any increase in hostilities with equivalent measures.

Saree emphasized the unwavering commitment of Yemeni forces to stand in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian population, vowing to continue their support until the relentless violence against Gaza is halted and the debilitating blockade imposed on the region is entirely removed.

He commended the valor of the Yemeni military forces at all levels, highlighting their dedication to fulfilling their religious, humanitarian, and moral responsibilities in safeguarding a sovereign and independent Yemen, as well as in supporting the oppressed Palestinian people.

In a statement, Yemen’s Armed Forces spokesperson Saree extended tributes to Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Ansarullah resistance movement, while commending the resilience and bravery demonstrated by the diverse segments of Yemeni society.

He additionally honored Palestinian resistance fighters in the Gaza Strip, as well as the resilient and dignified Palestinian people.

Yemeni forces have targeted Israeli and American sites in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza following the onset of Israel’s recent military actions there on October 7, 2023. These attacks also serve as retaliation against American-British military aggression in Yemen.

The operations have successfully led to the closure of the Eilat port, located in the southern region of the occupied territories, resulting in substantial economic repercussions for Israel.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have declared their intention to persist in their assaults until Israel concludes its ground and aerial operations in Gaza.

The Houthi group has once again expressed unwavering support for Palestine during the celebrations of Eid al-Fitr.

Ansarullah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi has reiterated Yemen’s steadfast backing for Palestine, pledging ongoing resistance against US-led aggression in Yemen. He firmly stated that such hostilities would not undermine Yemen’s military strength or its commitment to solidarity with Gaza.

In a statement marking the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, he highlighted that Yemen’s steadfastness is deeply anchored in its faith-driven identity, adherence to Quranic teachings, and unwavering trust in Allah.

He called on Muslims to keep in mind the plight of Palestinians in Gaza, who are confronted with “starvation and genocide,” along with the struggles of individuals in the West Bank and the alleged desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by what he described as “criminal Zionist Jews.”

Houthi has extended Eid al-Fitr greetings to the people of Yemen, the nation’s armed and security forces, government bodies, and the families of martyrs. The felicitations were also directed towards the Muslim community worldwide, with a special mention of the Palestinian people and their resistance movement.
