Yemeni Forces Speed up Advance in Ta’iz Province, Make Fresh Military Gains

The Yemeni forces are now in full control of several strategic mountains, including al-Shajara Mountain and its surrounding areas, in Ta’iz province.

The army and popular forces also destroyed the military hardware of the Saudi forces and pro-Hadi militias in al-Mesrakh region.

Ta’iz province has been the scene of swift advances by the Yemeni army and popular forces since Tuesday evening.

“The Yemeni forces maintained the security of al-Ja’shar hilltops in Al-Mahrouz Mountains,” the Yemeni state news agency quoted an informed military source as saying on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Yemeni army and Ansarullah fighters retook the mountain of al-Shajara in Ta’iz from the Saudi-backed militants.

The Yemeni forces won back al-Shajara Mountain and a number of hills surrounding it in al-Aqrod area in Ta’iz.

The Yemeni forces also seized a large amount of the militants’ weapons.

Also on Tuesday, the Yemeni army and Ansarullah fighters launched several mortar and rocket attacks against the Saudi-backed militants in Lahij province.

The Yemeni forces launched several mortar and rocket attacks against pro-Saudi militants and militants loyal to the fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi in Lahij, informed sources said.

The sources added that the Yemeni forces have begun a special operation to retake al-Anad military base in Lahij from the Saudi-backed militants.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 231 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 6,921 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
