Yemeni Military Repels Dual U.S. Offensives: Official Statement

In a recent development, the Yemeni Armed Forces launched a counteroffensive against US naval vessels, including the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, in the Red Sea. The action successfully disrupted two intended assaults aimed at the economically struggling nation.

In a statement issued on Friday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the military, announced that forces targeted “hostile warships in the Red Sea, including the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman,” using several cruise missiles and drones. This action was described as a response to the United States’ recent strikes on Yemen.

He reported that the operation, described as “the second in the past 24 hours,” successfully prevented two intended U.S. aerial assaults on Yemen.

This development follows an increase in U.S. strikes on Yemen, as Trump ordered a “powerful military action” against Yemen’s Army last month.

In a recent declaration, Saree emphasized Yemen’s preparedness to address any potential intensification of conflict, while pledging that pro-Palestinian efforts will persist until Israel concludes its military activities in Gaza.

In a resolute statement, he declared that any aggressors will recognize that the steadfast spirit of Great Yemen cannot be shattered or made to yield. He emphasized Yemen’s unwavering commitment to its religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibilities in supporting the oppressed Palestinian people, regardless of the consequences and outcomes. “Yemen will triumph, God willing,” he affirmed.

Since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza, Yemeni forces have launched numerous operations in solidarity with the affected Gazans. These actions have included strikes on various targets within the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as targeting Israeli maritime vessels en route to ports in the region.

The United States revealed plans in December 2023 to establish a maritime task force within the Red Sea, aimed at safeguarding the transit of ships heading towards Israeli-controlled territories. This move underscores America’s commitment to supporting Israel.

Yemeni forces have intensified their attacks, targeting key strategic and sensitive sites belonging to Israel and the United States. This escalation includes strikes against U.S. warships and aircraft carriers positioned off the coast of Yemen.

Yemeni forces had temporarily halted their retaliatory actions in adherence to a ceasefire that commenced in Gaza on January 19. However, the ceasefire was disrupted by Israel in the previous month.
