Occupation Authorities Mull Force-Feeding Prisoners on Day 40th of Hunger Strike

Zionist occupation authorities are mulling force-feeding Palestinian prisoners who entered on Friday their 40th day of a mass hunger strike.

Media Department in Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs reported that several Israeli hospitals started discussing force-feeding prisoners under the request of the so-called “Israel Prison Service.”

“It seems that the occupation makes up its mind to force-feed the prisoners in the most dangerous step since the statrt of the hunger strike in April 17,” Palesttine Today television cited a statement released by the Media Department in Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs.

For his part, Head of the committee, Issa Qaraqea, warned against such move stressing that the occupation authorities are to blame if any of the prisoners was harmed.

In this context, Qaraqea called on international organization, especially World Health Organization (WHO), to hold their responsibility regarding this issue.

The prisoners, who have been since April 17 on a hunger strike calling for improving prison conditions, have been suffering in the last days, with Israeli media reported on Wednesday that dozens of them were transferred to hospitals or field clinic after their health deteriorated.

The hunger-striking prisoners are calling for an end to the denial of family visits, the right to pursue higher education, appropriate medical care and treatment, and an end to solitary confinement and administrative detention — imprisonment without charge or trial — among other demands for basic rights.
