Syria- Vaccination Campaign Targets Around Million and a Half Children

Ministries of Health and Education launched on Sunday a measles, rubella and MMR vaccination campaign that targets children from the 1st to the 4th grades in all schools, whose number is estimated at one million and a half.
The campaign lasts during March and April.
Health Minister, Saad al-Nayef said in a statement to journalists during a tour of Al-Sharif al-Raddi School in al-Sheikh Saad area that the campaign is part of the ministry’s efforts to improve children’s health, indicating that the campaign also includes meningitis and oral polio , for the 1st grade students in some schools that have not resumed their vaccination program.
Minister of Education, Hazwan Al-Wazz said that the ministry is exerting efforts in cooperation with the ministry of health to make the campaign a success, considering the campaign a message to the whole world that the Syrians’ will is unbreakable by terrorism.
Dr. Nidal Abou Rashid, director of the National Vaccination Program, said that vaccinations protect children and society from life-threatening and fast-spreading diseases.
