The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) declared on Tuesday that Israeli occupation forces are still holding eight volunteers from the vessel “Madleen,” following a loss of communication with them nearly 24 hours prior. The coalition further reported that an additional four volunteers have been subjected to forced deportation.
The coalition’s statement indicates that attorneys from the legal organization Adalah have successfully met with 10 of the 12 volunteers. Meanwhile, journalists Omar Fayad from Al Jazeera and Yanis Mohamedi from France are currently being represented by independent legal counsel.
The roster of volunteers features activists and journalists hailing from various European and Latin American nations. Among those deported are Baptiste André of France, Greta Thunberg from Sweden, Sergio Toribio of Spain, and Omar Fayad, also from France.
The individuals who continue to be held in detention are Saeb Ordu from Türkiye, Mark van Ryn from the Netherlands, Pascal Mourieras from France, along with his compatriots Riva Viard and Rima Hassan, and Tiago Avi from Brazil.
