[P]GCC’s anti-Hezbollah bid to boomerang: Iranian lawmaker

shamsara20130413094301333An Iranian lawmaker has warned the member states of the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council [P]GCC against the ramifications of their Israeli-engineered plan to enlist the Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah as a terrorist group.

“The defeats of the Zionist regime (Israel) in confrontations with Hezbollah has prompted the fake regime to undermine the power of Lebanon’s resistance by exerting pressure on the Arab rulers in the region,” said Member of Iran’s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Ahmad Shohani on Friday.

“Unfortunately, the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council has been taking steps in line with the objectives of the West, particularly those of the US and the Zionist regime, for a long time in the region and this will soon bring about catastrophic repercussions for the Arab sheikhs in the region,” he added.

Bahrain’s Parliament Speaker Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani has recently said that the [P]GCC is considering a plan to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist group.

The news comes after Bahraini lawmakers voted for a bill on March 26 that cited Hezbollah as a terrorist group, accusing it of seeking ‘to destabilize the [P]GCC states and supporting the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.’

“While the elements of the armed terrorist groups in Syria are committing crimes against the Syrian nation under the direct and massive support of some of the [P]GCC members, in line with the measures of the allies of the Zionist regime, the council is weighing plans to enlist the Lebanese resistance [movement] as terrorist,” Shohani pointed out.
