Extremism and Salafism are the root cause of the growing wave of unrests in Egypt

A Senior Iranian lawmaker took extremists responsible for the spread of unrests in Egypt, and called for all-out efforts to re-establish tranquility and security to the Muslim state.
“Extremism and Salafism are the root cause of the growing wave of unrests in Egypt,” member of the Iranian Parliament Abbas Rajayee said.

“Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi’s resignation, as it has been demanded by the opposition, would do nothing to calm down the situation and it would even exacerbate the problems,” he added.

On Tuesday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian expressed his concern over escalation of violence in Egypt.

Mohammed Mursi was elected as the Egypt’s President by majority of votes, said Amir Abdollahian, warning the Egyptian nation against conspiracies hatched by foreign powers.

On Monday, A senior Iranian lawmaker took foreign interference in Egypt’s internal affairs responsible for continued crisis in the Muslim country.

“The growing tension in Egypt is mainly rooted in foreign interference by the United States, Zionist regime and reactionary Arab states that continue to support extremists and Salafists in the Muslim country,” member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Abbasali Mansouri Arani said.

On Sunday, Mursi pledged there would be no second revolution in his country as thousands of protesters calling for his resignation gathered in Cairo’s Tahrir Square.

Mursi rejected opposition calls for early presidential elections and said he would not tolerate any deviation from constitutional order, The Guardian reported.

The Opposition groups have called for a massive demonstration against Mursi on Sunday, the first anniversary of his inauguration.

At least seven people have been killed and more than 600 others injured in clashes between supporters and opponents of Mursi over the past few days.

An “unprecedented exodus” has been reported from Egypt.

Egypt’s opposition groups have rejected Mursi’s recent invitation for national reconciliation.
