Rivera was put in county jail and has been charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Chief J. Scott Thomson said: “Regardless of whether the shooting was intentional or accidental, it’s the culture of violence and the illegal possessing of firearms that lies at the heart of our greatest challenge in reducing gun crime.”
The shooting was reported to be the last incident of a violent day in Camden as two men were fatally shot Tuesday afternoon, bringing the city’s 2013 murder toll to 57.
Meanwhile, two teenagers were killed on New Year’s Eve in an armed robbery inside their Barberton, Ohio, home.
