Secretary of State John Kerry says the United States completely supports Israel during its conflict with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

“No country can live with that condition and the United States stands squarely behind Israel’s right to defend itself in those circumstances. Period,” he said in an interview with BBC.

Since July 8, Israeli warplanes have pounded numerous sites in the Gaza Strip, demolishing houses and burying families under the rubble.

Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

A 72-hour truce was announced on Tuesday and Israeli troops withdrew from the coastal enclave.

About 1,900 people have been killed and over 9,500 others injured by the Israeli regime’s massive offensive.

The top US diplomat also urged the two sides to negotiate following the temporary ceasefire.

“There has to be a giving on both sides,” Kerry said. “Now we hope this can hold perhaps because Israel is drawing down and pulling people out.”

In an interview with Press TV, international lawyer Barry Grossman said the disclosures that the US is directly enabling Israel’s military assaults on Gaza proves Washington’s complicity in war crimes committed by Tel Aviv.

“These disclosures not only expose the US to culpability in the spate of war crimes currently being perpetrated once again by Israel, but also give lie to President Obama’s public pose which implies that the events taking place in Gaza somehow are the inevitable result of factors entirely out the Unites States’ control,” Grossman said.
