Senior Hamas official claims that the US lacks genuine commitment to securing a ceasefire in Gaza
A high-ranking official from the Palestinian Hamas resistance group asserts that the United States lacks genuine intent to implement a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Osama Hamdan, Hamas’ representative in Lebanon, indicated on Saturday that the latest ceasefire proposal from the United States fails to call for the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
Hamdan pointed out that although the current ceasefire talks have yet to specify which Palestinian prisoners might be freed, any prospective agreement must include explicit guidelines ensuring the release of Palestinian detainees.
The senior Hamas official accused the US of attempting to grant the occupying Tel Aviv regime additional time to commit further atrocities and mass killings.
According to anonymous Egyptian sources, indirect talks between Hamas and Israel regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip are set to recommence in Cairo on Wednesday.
According to sources, the upcoming discussions on Wednesday and Thursday will include negotiation teams from three mediators – Egypt, Qatar, and the United States – along with the Israeli delegation.
Representatives from Egypt, the United States, and Israel remain in Doha, Qatar, where ceasefire negotiations took place earlier this week, to address “technical details” of the ceasefire agreement as they prepare for upcoming discussions in Cairo.
On Friday, the three mediators confirmed in a collective statement that they had introduced a “bridging proposal” to both Hamas and Israel. This proposal aligns with the tenets of UN Security Council Resolution 2735, which advocates for an “immediate, comprehensive, and thorough” ceasefire in Gaza.
On October 7, Israel initiated an offensive in Gaza following a sudden attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. This assault was a reaction to the long-standing Israeli regime’s history of violence and destruction targeting Palestinians.
The regime’s brutal assault on Gaza has resulted in over 40,000 Palestinian deaths, predominantly among women and children, and has left tens of thousands injured. Additionally, thousands of individuals are missing and believed to be buried under the debris.
