Leader prioritizes enhancing relations with neighboring nations during discussions with the Emir of Qatar
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed, has emphasized that strengthening ties with neighboring nations is a fundamental policy of the Islamic Republic.

During a meeting held in Tehran on Wednesday with the visiting Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Leader described Qatar as both a “friendly and brotherly” nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei has commended the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration for its initiatives to enhance diplomatic relations with neighboring countries. This was exemplified by the recent visit of the Emir of Qatar, highlighting Iran’s commitment to fostering stronger regional partnerships.
He voiced optimism that the accords reached during the visit would prove advantageous for both countries, enhancing their ability to meet their obligations as neighbors to an unprecedented degree.
The Leader criticized United States policies toward Iran and the broader region, stating that “there is no distinction between the presidents of the United States.”
The leader highlighted the recent release and transfer of Iranian funds from South Korean banks to Qatar, emphasizing that the United States remains the primary impediment to these assets being returned to Iran.
The official expressed the Islamic Republic’s anticipation that Qatar would resist any pressure exerted by the United States.
The spokesperson emphasized that if they were in Qatar’s situation, they would resist any pressure from Washington and proceed with returning the assets. “We continue to anticipate that Qatar will take such measures,” he affirmed.
Sheikh Tamim conveyed his gratitude for Iran’s steadfast support of oppressed populations globally. He emphasized that Iran’s consistent backing of the Palestinian cause is a gesture that “will remain etched in memory.”
He underscored the challenging conditions prevailing in the region, emphasizing that the current situation calls for enhanced cooperation among neighboring nations.
The Emir announced that Iran and Qatar have entered into agreements encompassing the construction of an underwater tunnel linking the two nations and the reactivation of their joint commission.
He conveyed confidence that the scale of economic interactions is poised for growth in the foreseeable future.
