Iranian Military Cautions U.S. Against Regional ‘Mischief,’ Warning of Potential Conflict Similar to Vietnam or Afghanistan

Iran's Armed Forces have accused the United States of making strategic errors by attempting to rally regional nations against the Islamic Republic. They caution that Iran remains well-prepared to counter any potential miscalculations by the American government.

In a statement, the General Staff of the Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces denounced the United States for reigniting tensions in the region, criticizing Trump for making unsubstantiated and incendiary statements about Tehran. The statement also highlighted concerns over the multi-trillion-dollar arms deals secured by the US during a recent tour of the Persian Gulf Arab states.

The statement labeled Trump as a “lying president,” criticizing his remarks in which he described the Islamic Republic as “the most destructive force” in the West Asia region during his visit to Saudi Arabia.

Trump stated that Iran must fully dismantle its nuclear energy program, a notion consistently dismissed by Iranian officials. He further warned that if the Islamic Republic persists in its nuclear pursuits, it would encounter what he termed as consequences.

The Armed Forces have asserted that recent actions by Trump in the region are intended to exploit billions of dollars from allied nations, using the premise of Iranophobia as a guise.

Trump’s tour resulted in the successful negotiation of military and economic agreements amounting to over $2 trillion with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The statement issued a cautionary note, suggesting that the United States is repeating historical errors. It warned that any provocative actions could result in repercussions akin to the devastating military involvements experienced by the U.S. in Vietnam and Afghanistan.

A “strong and decisive response” is being prepared in reaction to the perceived transgressions of the United States.

In a recent statement, the Armed Forces underscored Iran’s dedication to regional peace, emphasizing that the nation’s military strategy is defensively oriented and focused on maintaining sovereignty and stability.

Officials emphasized that any threat to national sovereignty would be countered with a “decisive and powerful” measure.

**”Trump Should Study Iran’s Historical Context”**

The Armed Forces have suggested that Trump consider Iran’s enduring historical impact, beginning with the 1979 Islamic Revolution and continuing through its resilient defense against a Western-supported Iraqi military during the 1980s. They also pointed to the Islamic Republic’s recent retaliatory actions against Israel, known as True Promise I and II, as evidence of its lasting influence.

Recognizing this historical context, the forces emphasized, would enable Washington to assess the nation’s resilience, according to the statement.

In their closing remarks, the forces attributed the nation’s strength to the “prudent leadership” of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, along with the “alertness and unity” of the Iranian populace.

Iran emphasized its commitment to progress with dignity and determination, resolutely addressing external challenges with “clarity, readiness, and unshakable power.”

Commemorating the Liberation of Khorramshahr

The announcement coincided with the commemoration of the Iranian Armed Forces’ liberation of Khorramshahr, a significant southern city, during the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-88, which was instigated by Iraq’s former leader, Saddam Hussein.

Labeling the liberation as a “divine victory,” the Armed Forces commended the valor demonstrated by their different branches, specifically highlighting the contributions of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), the Army, and the Basij volunteer force during the liberation initiatives.

The statement highlighted the forces’ collaboration and resilience in countering foreign aggression during the defensive efforts, describing the event as “a symbol of Iran’s steadfast national resolve against global arrogance.”
