France slammed over detention of Iran national

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Tuesday condemned the French detention of an Iranian national accused of importing electronic components to the country despite a US embargo.

Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast criticized Paris over using the case of Majid Kakavand, the Iranian national charged with ignoring the trade embargo imposed b the US, to gain political leverage on Tehran.

He said Kakavand’s detention is illegal as the charges against him are fabricated.

According to US authorities, Kakavand broke the embargo by buying electronic components, which could be used for both civilian and military purposes, in the US and importing them to Iran.
