An alliance of Iran, Egypt, and the Lebanese Hezbollah can annihilate Israel, a senior member of the Egyptian Ikhwan al-Muslimun (Muslim Brotherhood) party said, and further lashed out at certain Arab states which refrain from supporting the Palestinians due to their close ties with Israel’s allies.
“If Iran, Egypt, and (Lebanon’s) Hezbollah cooperate, they can annihilate Israel,” Ali Esmail, also a senior member of Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party, told FNA in Cairo on Tuesday.
He noted that the Arab countries do not help the Palestinians because they fear that their interests in some Western countries might be harmed.
“The reason why Palestinians are not armed with weapons (by Arab states) lies in the meddling of some allies of the Zionist regime in the affairs of some Arab countries, while some others are worried about their interests in the some western countries and refrain from action due to the same reason,” Esmail added.
In relevant remarks last night, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah called on the Arab neighbors of the Gaza Strip to open their borders and allow shipment of weapons for the oppressed Gazans who are facing an all-out Israeli invasion, describing the measure as the most necessary obligation.
“It is highly important to open the borders and send arms to the Gaza,” Nasrallah said in a televised speech via video link on Monday.
He noted Arab countries should take action to send arms to Gaza to support the Palestinian resistance rather than being only concerned about humanitarian and medical aid.
“Arab countries are acting as if they were the Red Crescent and not political entities,” Nasrallah added.
He then referred to Tehran, Damascus and Hezbollah’s support for the Gaza Strip and said, “Iran, Syria and Hezbollah will not abandon Gaza. We were with them in the past we will stay with them today.”
Over 115 Palestinians have been killed and more than 900 others injured in the new wave of Israeli aggressions against the Gaza Strip since Wednesday.
Israel triggered the new round of its assaults against Gazans by assassinating the military chief of the ruling Hamas group on Wednesday followed by dozens of airstrikes on Gaza.
In response, the Palestinian groups have fired more than 1,200 missiles and rockets at Israel. Several Israelis have been killed and about 100 others wounded since Israel initiated the attacks.
