Nigeria Islamic Movement marks Arabeen of Imam Husain(AS)

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the Leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky marks the Arbaeen (40 days) Commemoration of Imam Husain (AS). The event which took place on Thursday the 20th of Safar 1431 (04/02/10) at Movement’s Center in Zaria, was attended by multitudes of believers who listened to the inspiring lecture of Sheikh Zakzaky on the main event of Ashura and the 40th day Commemoration. Sheikh Zakzaky spoke extensively on the significance of the Arabeen of Imam Husain’s martydom, as well as the lessons derived from it.

The Sheikh recounts on the sufferings of Ahlul Bayt(AS) who were taken as captives to Yazid in Damascus together with the Imam’ s head on spear, adding that the sole of aim of the perpetrators is to obliterate resistance to tyranny and Islam altogether, as well as to strip the Ahlul Bayt (AS) of their God-given status. Yazid thought that the empire he and his fathers established in the name of Islam would remain with them forever. However, not long ago after the event of Ashura their empire came to naught, noted Sheikh. An invocation of God’s wrath upon Yazid and his soldiers became the order of the day among people even in his palace. “May the Curse of God be upon you oh Yazid” became a popular slogan everywhere, added the Sheikh.

The Sheikh elaborated further that what befell Yazid and his supporters await anybody who considers killing innocent souls as means of attaining selfish goals. He further narrated that the name of Imam Husain (AS) is now a symbol of justice and sacrifice. The tent built by Imam Husain at Karbala to keep his family members during the ashura tragic event, has now become a house of hundreds of Husainiyyah centers. Even Yazid’s Palace, where the captives were kept, is now a Husainyyah Center. Islam became revived with Imam’s sacrifice contrary to Yazid’s evil intention of wiping off the name of Ahlul Bayt(AS) and of true Islam.

On the global conspiracies against Islam, and particularly against the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Zakzaky explained that all evil plans against the Movement shall fail just like the previous ones. He further highlighted that up to 15 plots were outlined by the security agents on how to deal with the Movement. The plots were said to have originated from the Zionist Israel and America, whose implementation was planned in collaboration with the Nigerian Government.

Sheikh Zakzaky further explained that since Nigeria is a country with abundant resources and high percentage of Muslim population, it should not be surprising if America and Israel decides to kill its people, even if only a small percentage would be left, as long as they could control the country’s resources. This happened in some countries like Australia and even in America, where the land was known to have belong to a particular community that were originally displaced by immigrants.

At the end of the lecture Sheikh Zakzaky recited the Ziyara supplication of Imam Husain, Du’a Kumayl and a closing prayer.
