Qatar, Turkey, Israel Plotting to Disintegrate Iraq
Qatar, Turkey and Israel are exercising a plot to disintegrate Iraq, a prominent Iraqi strategy analyst warned on Monday.

“Qatar, Turkey and Israel are spearheading and leading a plot to disintegrate Iraq,” Ahmad al-Sharifi told FNA.

He said that targeting the political trend in Iraq is actually a part of the broader plot against the region which is known as the Greater Middle-East plan and aimed to pressure the countries which are in the resistance front against Israel and the US.

Sharifi said that the recent rallies in different cities of Iraq are also a part of the plot to pressure the Iraqi government to give up its independent and progressive political performance.

His remarks came after reports from Iraq said last week that several regional states, including Qatar, have paid $100 to each participant in protest rallies in al-Anbar province in support of Iraqi Finance Minister Rafia al-Issawi, whose bodyguards have been arrested on terrorism charges last month.

Iraq’s al-Nakhil news agency quoted a security official as saying on Wednesday that after the arrest of Issawi’s bodyguards, several groups affiliated to the regional states, specially Qatar, paid huge sums to their sympathizers in Anbar, Salaheddin and Nineveh provinces to stage rallies against the Iraqi government.

Ouraq al-Khalij newspaper also informed in its Wednesday edition that Doha is staunchly supporting Issawi for taking the leadership of Sunni protestors in Iraq.

The paper said Qatari officials had contacted a large number of their agents and hirelings in Iraq in recent days to coordinate the protests, adding that even the mottoes chanted against Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki government have been dictated by Doha.

Also earlier a prominent lawmaker at the Iraqi Parliament voiced Turkmens’ strong opposition to any plan to divide Iraq into three states, and described it as an Israeli plot to undermine Iraq’s power.

“Disintegrating Iraq into three Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish states is a plot hatched by Israel,” Mohammad Mehdi Bayati, a Turkmen member of the Iraqi parliament, said in December.

He added that Turkmens are strongly against the plot, specially creation of an independent Kurdish state as proposed by Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government Nechirvan Barzani which would also include Turkmen regions.

Bayati stated that the plot is based on ethnic discrimination, aimed at undermining the Iraqi nation, and called on Iraq’s politicians to avoid tilting to ethnic tendencies.
