Attack on Freedom Flotilla despicable

Iran’s president says it is necessary to make the voices of Gazans and victims of the Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound aid convoy heard across the world.

“Their rights should be restored”, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted by IRNA as telling Syrian Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Abrash on Wednesday.

President Ahmadinejad described the Israeli assault on the freedom flotilla as ‘despicable’ and ‘unjustifiable’, adding the brutal act has brought shame upon the Zionist regime of Israel and its backers.

President Ahmadinejad characterized Tehran-Damascus ties as ‘cordial’ and ‘lasting’, adding the resistance by Iran and Syria has changed regional equations in favor of the regional nations and against the enemy.

“Today, the front line of resistance against the Israeli regime has turned into a very strong front, shattering Israel and its supporters’ hope of dominating the region”, added President Ahmadinejad.

The visiting Syrian Parliament speaker, in turn, said the recent Israeli action bears testimony to the Zionist regime’s racist nature.

“The Zionist regime showed once again that it is not committed to international regulations”, added al-Abrash.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani also sat down with his visiting Syrian counterpart on Wednesday.

Larijani said the formation of a parliamentary front serves as a key step in the “trend of fighting the Zionist regime”, adding the blockade on Gaza needs to be lifted.

The two men also discussed other regional developments as well as promotion of mutual relations.
