Daesh cannot cross into Iranian territory

An Iranian border guard looks through a pair of binoculars to monitor a border area for drug trafficking activities on July 19, 2011, in Milak, southeastern Iran. The region borders both Aghanistan and Pakistan, and sits on a major trafficking route. The UN office on drugs and crime (UNODC) today praised Iran's anti-narcotics effort, urging other countries to follow its example, as its chief travelled to Tehran for a three-day visit. UNODC director Yury Fedotov also praised the cooperation between Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan as part of a "Triangular Initiative," which has led to the seizure of several tons of drugs in joint operations. Some 89 percent of global opium seizures and 41 percent of heroin and morphine seizures occur in Iran, according to the UNODC. Information Minister Senior Advisor Hojjatoleslam Khazaie said on Wednesday that Daesh cannot infiltrate into Iranian soil due to strength of the Iranian security forces.

Talking to IRNA, Hojjatoleslam Khazai said many operations against terrorists have been carried out on the borders and high number of such operations to foil the movements were recorded in the past one year.

He said Daesh is getting to the conclusion not to hope doing anything inside the country and that testifies strength of the country’s intelligence and security organs.
