Hamas continues its efforts to stop Ain al-Hilweh camp clashes

Hamas Movement affirmed, in a statement issued Monday, that efforts are being made, in cooperation with the Palestinian forces and factions, and the Lebanese authorities, to stop the clashes that erupted in the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, south of Lebanon.

The Movement renewed its rejection of the internal fighting in Ain al-Hilweh camp, calling for enforcing dialogue to preserve civil peace.

“Efforts are made to stop the clashes and put an end to the ongoing crisis in Ain al-Hilweh camp,” the statement reads.

The Movement stressed the importance of maintaining the national compass towards Palestine, and strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Lebanon until they achieve their right of return.

Hamas said that it is following up on the serious security deterioration taking place in the Ain al-Hilweh camp in Lebanon, which left several dead, injured, intimidated, and displaced.

The group also renewed its total rejection of armed clashes as a means of resolving problems and disputes.

At least 11 people have been killed and dozens more wounded in the clashes in Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp near the southern port city of Sidon.
