Chairman of Expediency Council said on Tuesday that some Muslim countries have forgotten the Palestinian cause to such an extent that is seems as if Israel is no longer a dangerous phenomenon in the region.

Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani made the remarks in a meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador to Iran Salah Zawawi, adding that the Palestinian people are the most oppressed nation in the world that live amid fear and insecurity in refugee camps.

Rafsanjani referred to the influence of the Palestinian people’s resistance in the Islamic world, and especially in the struggles of the Iranian nation in their Islamic Revolution, arguing that the Palestinians, both inside their motherlands and abroad are always pursuing their liberation campaign.

He said that as he had mentioned in a meeting with the German foreign minister, the Westerners by urging the Jews to leave their lands set ablaze the Islamic countries with the emergence of Zionism.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani expressed regret that some leaders of the Islamic countries have launched campaigns against other countries’ Muslims, such as Saudi bombardments of the oppressed Yemeni nation.

‘That is while the Palestinians who are merely armed with pebbles face the highly armed Zionists,’ he added.

Rafsanjani also referred to the political segregation of Israel due to stubborn oppositions of that regime’s prime minister against the nuclear agreement between Iran and the world powers, considering that segregation as an opportunity for the Palestinians to prove their legitimacy to the West.

The Palestinian ambassador, too, said that all Islamic world experts confirm that Ayatollah Rafsanjani had many years before the Islamic Revolution been an expert in Palestine affairs.

Salah Zawawi also referred to the revived old colonialist policy of divide and rule, arguing that although the Shiite and Sunni Muslims have a shared Qibla (direction toward which they perform their daily prayers), a shared Holy Book, and a shared prophet, they propagate as if the Shiites are non-Muslims.

‘Resorting to that plot they spend all the wealth of the Islamic world aimed at wars among Muslims,’ he added.

The Palestinian envoy said that it is while the occupying regime of Israel and the United States are busy hatching new plots against the Palestinians and the Muslims with the passing of each new day, ignoring even the weak international laws.
