Failure in wars sign of US fall

The head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission says US failure in Afghanistan and Iraq is a sign of decline in Washington’s power.

“The United States’ failure to succeed in Iraq and Afghanistan is a sign that it (the US) is falling,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Saturday, adding that Iran’s power, on the other hand, was rising.

“Presently, the sacred establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran is at the height of its power to such an extent that it has challenged all of the world’s great powers, especially the US,” he said.

Boroujerdi added Iran has made great achievements in military industries and has obtained nuclear know-how in spite of Western opposition, Mehr News Agency reported.

Despite conventional arms and other sanctions against Iran, which is pursuing the doctrine of military self-sufficiency, the country has been able to achieve considerable progress in manufacturing cutting-edge weaponry and defense systems.

Last week, Iran unveiled its first domestically-manufactured long-range Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) named Karrar (Frequent Attacker).

The drone is capable of flying long distances at a very high speed.

The production lines of the Seraj high-speed vessel and a new generation of the high-speed Zolfaghar vessel were launched in August by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi.

Iran also inaugurated its first nuclear power plant in the southern city of Bushehr on August 21. The plant is set to produce 500 megawatts of electricity in the initial stage, and its production capacity will be increased to 1000 megawatts in the near future.
