Former Turkish Intelligence Chief Admits Palestinian Resistance Empowered by International Quds Day

The former head of Turkish intelligence has praised Iran's steadfast backing of the Palestinian people, calling it a "ray of hope" for the oppressed nation. He noted that International Quds Day has enabled the Palestinians to fight for their rights and struggle for justice.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press video news agency on Tuesday, Lieutenant General Ismail Hakki Pekin, who was the head of military intelligence at the Turkish Armed Forces General Staff, made the remarks.

On the lead up to International Quds Day, an event held annually on the last Friday of Ramadan, a statement was released.

Pekin declared that Iran has been instrumental in allowing Palestinians to protect themselves in the face of Israel’s unceasing atrocities.

He stated that the trend was indisputable and that Iran has implemented substantial steps to strengthen security in the area, both through education and protection.

The ex-intelligence chief declared that Palestinians were extremely vulnerable during the period of Yasser Arafat’s presidency of the Palestinian Authority, with the United States and Israel engaging in frequent military strikes against them.

Pekin asserted that thanks to Iran’s assistance, various resistance organizations are now in action in Gaza and al-Quds, with Hezbollah being the most effective of them all in Lebanon.

He commented that, without Iran’s assistance, the Palestinian resistance would not have been able to reach its current level, and that Israel would have had an easier time carrying out genocide or forcing all Palestinians to abandon their homeland.

Retired Lieutenant General said that the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran aided other oppressed nations in the region to protect themselves.

He noted that the Iranian Revolution had significant implications not just in Palestine, but for the entire region, including countries asserting their rights.

He praised Iran’s involvement in fostering peace and stability in the area, and emphasized that other states in the Middle East, such as Turkey, should back Iran’s regional initiatives.

On International Quds Day, created by Imam Khomeini, people around the globe come together to show their support for the people of Palestine in their fight to reclaim their lands that have been taken over by force. Muslims and non-Muslims alike join in the expression of solidarity.

Israel’s new cabinet, seen as the most extreme right-wing cabinet in the nation’s history, has increased the intensity of its suppression of Palestinians, regularly staging deadly raids into Palestinian cities.

Israeli forces have been attempting to quell the increasing Palestinian opposition to their rule in Nablus and Jenin, which have been the focal points of most raids.

Around 100 Palestinians have been killed by the regime this year.
