Video-Iranian Ambassador to UN on Tehran terror attack

Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee accomplished two key missions at the closed-door ambassador-level meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement at the UN on Wednesday.

He presented a letter condemning Wednesday’s car-bomb assassination of Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan an Iranian nuclear scientist– and he followed up on his recent letter demanding UN condemnation of US intelligence practices after an American spy drone was captured by the Iranian military. Afterward — he said things went well.

The scientist was killed on Wednesday by assassins using a magnetic bomb — a tactic that has been used to assassinate other Iranian nuclear technicians over the last two years.

In his letter Khazaee pointed that out — stating that there is “firm evidence that certain foreign quarters are behind such assassinations.”

He adds in the letter that those quarters will stop at nothing to deprive Iran of its nuclear energy program — but he points out that nuclear energy is Iran’s legal right.

Reactions from the Secretary-General concerning the Iranian letter about American spy drones were virtually non-existent. The Chair of the Non-Align Movement — however — says it will be making statements on that letter and this one in the coming days.

He adds that the Non-Aligned Movement will issue a statement condemning the killing on Thursday.

The statement will not carry the official weight that a statement from the General Assembly or Security Council would — but it would be a strong condemnation from the Non-Aligned Movement — which has 120 member states. Abdelaziz says that a condemnation statement resulting from Iran’s letter on US spying is on the way as well.

Abdelaziz — who’s also the Egyptian UN ambassador — adds that some details of language must be worked out — where with the letter concerning assassinations — there had already been work done.

Iranian nuclear scientists have been targeted by assassins four times over the past two years.
