Hamas called for popular uprising against the Palestinian Authority’s inhumane blockade of the Jenin refugee camp

A high-ranking representative of the Hamas resistance movement has urged for a massive public demonstration to end the Palestinian Authority's blockade on the Jenin refugee camp, situated in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

On Monday, Abdul Rahman Shadid put forth a request amidst ongoing tensions in the Jenin refugee camp. In recent weeks, Palestinian Authority security forces have increasingly restricted access to the camp, which houses approximately 25,000 residents, and have engaged in confrontations with resistance fighters operating in the area.

He attributed the responsibility for the recent violence in Jenin and other areas to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, citing the military operations initiated by the Palestinian Authority.

According to Shadid, Palestinian Authority officials have declined to address numerous national appeals and initiatives urging the cessation of the blockade on the Jenin camp and the military offensive targeting resistance groups in the West Bank.

Since the beginning of this month, Palestinian Authority security forces, supported by armored vehicles, have been conducting patrols within the Jenin refugee camp.

Authorities have detained several Palestinians linked to resistance factions, notably the Jenin Brigades, inciting fatal confrontations.

Resistance factions have accused the Palestinian Authority and its security forces of acting in coordination with the Tel Aviv regime, following reports suggesting that the Jenin military campaign is being conducted under Israeli military supervision.

Hamas last week issued a strong condemnation of the Palestinian Authority’s operations, labeling them a “fully-fledged crime.” The organization criticized the use of weapons against residents in Jenin, arguing that such armaments would be more effectively utilized by resistance forces in their efforts to combat Israeli occupation forces.

The statement urged for widespread civilian mobilization to dismantle the blockade, safeguard resistance fighters, and counter the ongoing security operation, asserting that it solely benefits the occupying forces.
