Hamas MPs confer with Swiss envoy to Ramallah

A delegation of the Hamas MPs met in Ramallah on Wednesday with the Swiss envoy to the Palestinian Authority and discussed the issue of their detained colleagues in Israeli jails.

Banished Jerusalemite MP Ahmed Attoun and Jerusalemite MP Wael Al-Husseini discussed with the envoy the Israeli kidnap of Jerusalemite MPs and its former minister and exiling them from their hometown.

They also tackled the detention of Dr. Aziz Dweik, the speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, and other lawmakers in violation of their parliamentary immunity.

A Hamas press release said that the two MPs briefed the ambassador on the Palestinian prisoners’ hunger strike and called for his country’s intervention to pressure Israel into desisting from its repressive practices against prisoners.

The discussions then touched on human rights and freedoms in Palestine in general and focused on the Israeli violations of Palestinian rights in Jerusalem.
