Hamdan Criticizes US Administration’s Capability as Mediator in Gaza Ceasefire Talks
A senior official from Hamas, Osama Hamdan, stated on Monday that over the last four weeks, the Israeli occupation has failed to provide any new proposals in the ongoing negotiation process. This comes as the United States has not issued a definitive stance condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to consider ceasefire proposals.

Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan stated on Monday that the Israeli occupation has failed to present any new developments in the negotiation process over the past four weeks. This comes amid a lack of a clear stance from the United States criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of ceasefire proposals.
In a press statement, Hamdan accused Netanyahu of using the rising tensions with Iran as a strategic tool for domestic gain ahead of anticipated early elections. He argued that Netanyahu’s actions constitute political manipulation, leveraging Palestinian suffering for personal political advantage.
Hamas has reiterated its commitment to securing an agreement that would end hostilities and facilitate the reopening of border crossings. Efforts are underway through mediators to broker a comprehensive deal. However, the group has also affirmed that any ongoing aggression will be countered with persistent resistance.
Hamdan emphasized that the Movement has put forth a detailed framework aimed at achieving a fair humanitarian agreement, highlighting the right of the Palestinian people to a fully sovereign state.
He emphasized that the United States government remains unable to act as a neutral mediator, addressing the Palestinian matter solely with the aim of exonerating Netanyahu both at home and abroad, even though Netanyahu is now considered a “fugitive from international justice.”
Hamdan reiterated Hamas’s firm demand to halt the aggression and safeguard its citizens, urging a decisive international response to contain the occupation and deliver justice for the Palestinian people.
The sustained Israeli military operations in Gaza, backed by the United States since October 7, 2023, have led to around 190,000 Palestinian casualties, predominantly affecting women and children. Over 11,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, adding to the crisis of hundreds of thousands who have been forced from their homes. The region is also grappling with a severe famine, which has resulted in numerous fatalities, including many children.
