The Israeli military says it has found the remains of two Katyusha rockets that have been fired into the Golan Heights.

The rockets landed in the Israeli-occupied areas just after midnight on Saturday.

Israeli military sources said the rockets were fired from either Syria or Lebanon.

However, they said it would be more likely that the rockets were fired as a result of the fighting between foreign-backed militants and government forces in Syria.

Earlier this week, Israel replaced a military division, the 210th Regional Bashan Division, on the Golan Heights, which had been deployed to the occupied region for 40 years.

Security sources say the Israeli military is also working on ways to enter the Syrian territory.

Israel captured the Golan Heights during the Six-Day War of 1967, when it also took control of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

It annexed the Golan Heights in 1981, although the move was never recognized by the international community and was a violation of international law.

The UN Security Council has rejected the de facto annexation in Resolution 497.

The UN also regards the Golan Heights as an occupied territory.
