Hanna appeals for ending blockade on Gaza

images_News_2013_12_16_hanna_300_0The Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia, Archbishop Atallah Hanna, has appealed for an end to the siege on Gaza Strip.

He said in a press release on Sunday that more than one and a half million human beings in Gaza Strip are living in miserable economic and humanitarian conditions under siege.

Hanna said that the people’s suffering in Gaza had exacerbated due to the extreme weather conditions that turned Gaza into a big swamp.

“Our people in Gaza are experiencing disastrous conditions and it is not acceptable to remain silent vis-à-vis such an inhumane situation,” he added.

The Archbishop expressed absolute solidarity with the people of Gaza and said that such a tragic situation, “which is a shame on humanity”, should come to an immediate end.
