Iran FM arrived in Syria to convey Tehran’s message of unwavering support in the ongoing fight against terrorism

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has touched down in Damascus, the capital of Syria.

Leading a delegation, Araghchi arrived in Damascus on Sunday to convey a message from Tehran to the Syrian government.

In a statement to the press prior to his departure, the Iranian Foreign Minister announced his imminent visit to Damascus, with the purpose of delivering a message from the Islamic Republic to the Syrian government. He reaffirmed Iran’s steadfast support for both the Syrian army and the government.

He stated that Iran draws no distinction between the Israeli government and Takfiri terrorist groups.

The senior Iranian diplomat expressed concerns that, in the aftermath of the Israeli regime’s setbacks, adversaries are attempting to achieve their malicious objectives by fostering regional instability through these terrorist factions.

Araghchi expressed confidence that the Syrian military will once again claim victory over terrorist groups, drawing parallels to previous successes.

Earlier on Sunday, Iran’s Foreign Minister asserted that extremist terrorist organizations allegedly supported by foreign powers are destined for defeat against the resistance forces safeguarding the region.

He noted that West Asia is currently experiencing a series of evolving conspiracies, highlighting the emergence of Takfiri terrorist groups that align with the interests and actions of the United States and Israel.

During his visit to Damascus, Iran’s foreign minister is scheduled to engage in discussions with Syrian officials concerning the enhancement of bilateral relations and current regional issues.

The renewed threat posed by terrorist groups in Syria and strategies for countering their influence, alongside the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts and backing for Syria’s government and its citizens, were central themes in the recent discussions aimed at fostering peace and stability in the nation.

During a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Saturday, Iranian official Araghchi stated that the revival of Takfiri terrorism in northern Syria is integral to a joint American-Israeli initiative designed to destabilize the West Asia region.

He emphasized the need for Iran, Russia, and regional nations, especially those bordering Syria, to remain alert and enhance cooperation in order to “defeat this perilous scheme and combat terrorist activities in Syria.”

On Friday, militant groups spearheaded by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and associated factions mounted their most significant offensive in Syria in years. They successfully seized control of sections of Aleppo, the nation’s second-largest city, and pushed further south toward Hama, according to reports.

The Syrian military subsequently reported that it successfully intercepted and prevented large-scale terrorist operations through a preemptive strike.

Since March 2011, Syria has been engulfed in conflict attributed to foreign-backed militancy, as Western nations and their regional partners support armed groups responsible for widespread instability in the Arab nation.

In response to a recent terrorist attack, the Syrian military launched strikes against militant positions, as President Bashar al-Assad pledged to uphold the stability and territorial integrity of the nation.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has reportedly formed an alliance with the Israeli government in efforts aimed at undermining Syria’s counterterrorism initiatives.
