Sayyed Nasrallah: To launch a ground operation against Gaza is a stupid mistake

Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah underlined the Palestinian resistance groups’ capability to defend the Gaza Strip, and said any attempt by Israel to launch a ground invasion of Gaza would be a “stupid mistake”.

“The Israelis will commit a stupid mistake if they decide to launch a ground operation against Gaza,” Nasrallah said speaking during a televised speech in Beirut on Saturday.

“The resistance in Gaza has acquired power, determination, and planning capabilities and has filled the gaps,” Nasrallah underlined, and added that Hamas’s firepower has put the Israelis increasingly on edge.

“The (Palestinian) resistance is until now capable of firing rockets on Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other places… The Israeli enemy is disturbed, anxious and in retreat.”

He called on Arab states “to adopt the right position to bring the aggression against Gaza to an end without allowing some countries to put pressure on the resistance”.

Elsewhere, Nasrallah criticized the United States for its unconditional support for Israel.

Nasrallah said US President Barack Obama is not doing enough to end Israel’s aggression against Gaza.

“Obama can put an end to the assaults by a single phone call. Nevertheless, he is still supporting what Israel is doing,” he noted.

The new wave of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has claimed at least 50 lives since November 14.

On Saturday, Israeli aircraft bombed Hamas government buildings in the Palestinian territory, after Israel’s cabinet authorized the mobilization of up to 75,000 reservists, preparing for a possible ground invasion.
