Iran slams Western objectification of human rights

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has slammed the use of human rights issues as a political tool by Western countries against independent nations.

According to IRIB, Mehmanparast said Wednesday “The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the objectifying of human rights and its use as a tool against independent states.”
He added that in accordance with the country’s Constitution and Sharia law, the Islamic Republic considers supporting and helping to increase respect for human rights as one of its ideals.
Mehmanparast added “These Western countries exaggerate and demonize the human rights situation in Iran while they have not only closed their eyes on the dire rights situation in their allied countries and are unable to be answerable for the numerous violations of their own citizens’ rights.”
On Tuesday, the General Assembly’s Third Committee passed the non-binding resolution, which was drafted by Canada and co-sponsored by other Western countries, with 83 countries voting in favor, 31 against, and 68 abstentions.
Mehmanparast added that many of the so-called advocates of human rights have systematic and horrible cases of rights violations on their past and current records.
