Iran vehemently denies allegations of an assassination plot against Trump
Iran has unequivocally dismissed as "unfounded" accusations regarding an alleged assassination plot on U.S. territory aimed at Republican President-elect Donald Trump, mere weeks ahead of the November 5 election.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei dismissed the accusations as “entirely unfounded and lacking evidence.” This response comes in the wake of the US Justice Department’s recent unsealing of criminal charges that purportedly reveal an Iran-supported plot to assassinate former President Donald Trump ahead of the upcoming Tuesday election.
A federal court in New York City has received a criminal complaint alleging that an unidentified official within Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) directed an associate to devise a strategy for monitoring and eventually assassinating a businessman who transitioned into politics.
Baghaei characterized the renewed assertions at this time as “a malicious conspiracy orchestrated by Zionist and anti-Iranian groups, intending to exacerbate tensions between the United States and Iran.”
The announcement followed the declaration of Donald Trump as the winner of the presidential election on Wednesday. Earlier, on July 13, Trump was the target of an assassination attempt, emerging with only a minor injury to his ear.
In August, Iranian authorities categorically denied any involvement with a Pakistani national who was reportedly detained in the United States in connection with an alleged conspiracy to assassinate American political figures.
In 2018, the United States, led by then-President Donald Trump, unilaterally exited the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran and subsequently imposed stringent sanctions on the nation.
Former President Donald Trump acknowledged authorizing the targeted killing of Iran’s esteemed anti-terrorism figure, General Qassem Soleimani, in a U.S. drone strike that occurred near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
Baghaei emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to employing “all legitimate and legal avenues, both domestically and internationally, to reclaim the rights of its citizens.”
