Iran’s Top Commander: CIA, Mossad Trying to Sow Discord among Muslims

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said the arrogant power’s spying agencies are playing a main role in the regional crises through their support and aid to terrorist groups, mentioning that the move is aimed at Muslims’ disunity.

Firouzabadi said that CIA and Mossad are trying to create a rift among Muslims (Sunnis and Shiites) through dispatching apparently religious groups which are actually terrorist groups and engage in terrorist activities.

“Emergence of new forms of terrorism such as al-Qaeda militants who are confronting the people and government of Syria is an old scenario being pursued by the arrogant powers against the Muslim nations as the world is currently witnessing in Syria,” Firouzabadi said while referring to the efforts of the anti-Syria alliance led by the US and some European governments, as well as the Zionist regime.

Pointing to the role of state intelligence services of the big powers in funding the terrorist groups, the commander said that creating rift among Muslims and radicalism pursued by al-Qaeda are the plots pursued by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) , Zionist regime’s Mossad and UK’s MI6 against Muslims across the world.

“Supporting al-Qaeda and commissioning with missions such as civil war in Syria and massacre of the innocent Syrian people by the US and western mercenaries will eventually have a reverse effect and backfire on the big powers themselves,” Iranian top military official added.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of stirring unrests in Syria once again.

The US and its western and regional allies have long sought to topple Bashar al-Assad and his ruling system. Media reports said that the Syrian rebels and terrorist groups have received significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, a crime paid for by the Persian Gulf Arab states and coordinated by the United States.
