Leader of the Islamic Ummah And Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei says the United States is the real enemy of the national unity of Pakistan.

The Supreme Leader made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Tehran on Saturday.

Leader of the Islamic Ummah And Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei stated that the West, and particularly the United States, is the main adversary of the Pakistani people.

Leader of the Islamic Ummah And Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei pointed to the religious and cultural affinities shared by Iran and Pakistan and lauded the Pakistani people’s long history of resistance.

Leader of the Islamic Ummah And Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei also expressed hope that God would help the Pakistani nation rid themselves of their enemies as soon as possible.

The Pakistani president called for the expansion of relations between Tehran and Islamabad.

Earlier in the day, Zardari held a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, where the two called for the strengthening of bilateral ties in all spheres, especially in the economic and energy sectors.

Zardari also proposed that financial transactions between Iran and Pakistan be conducted in the two countries’ currencies rather than the US dollar, saying this would help decrease smuggling and improve trade ties.
