Senior Sunni cleric slams Iran border guards’ abduction

 

Senior Iranian Sunni cleric on Tuesday condemned the abduction of Iranian border guards by the terrorist groups.

The story of kidnap of a group of border guards ‘concerned me very much’, Molavi Abdul Hamid Ismaeelzahi, one of Iran’s prominent Sunni leaders said in a released statement.

The cleric condemned the terrorist groups’ action in abduction of border guards and expressed the hope that they will released as soon as possible.

Fourteen Basij (volunteer forces) and border guard forces were abducted by terrorists in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan border with Pakistan on Monday morning, an informed source said.

In the meantime, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that Pakistan is expected to fight terrorists and outlaws who have nested along the borders and are propped up by some reactionary and terrorist regional countries.

Foreign Minister’s Assistant in West Asia called Pakistan ambassador to Tehran to spare no efforts in releasing Iranian forces within the framework of bilateral ties, good neighborliness and the commitments under bilateral agreements and international regulations.

Pakistan ambassador to Tehran has also been requested to reflect the issue as soon as possible and make Iranian Foreign Ministry informed of all developments.

Pakistan ambassador also expressed deep regret over the accident, Qasemi said.

Meanwhile, Iranian ambassador to Islamabad met officials and urged Pakistan government to release Iranian border guards and to act firmly against outlaws and Takfiri terrorists.
