The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Kamenei Grants Amnesty to 1,002 Inmates

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Kamenei on Thursday granted clemency or commuted sentences of 1,002 Iranian prisoners, convicted at the country’s general, revolutionary or military courts.

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Kamenei granted the amnesty on the occasion of Islamic Republic Day on March 31.

The amnesty was requested by Head of the Judiciary Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani and was approved by the Supreme Leader.

The inmates have been convicted by the public, Islamic revolution and armed forces courts.

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Kamenei granted the amnesty as per Article 110 of the Constitution upon recommendation from the head of the Judiciary.
