President Ahmadinejad: Iran to Remain among Sudan’s Supporters

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a meeting with Sudanese Envoy to Tehran Mir-Ghani Ababakr, lauded the deep and brotherly ties between Tehran and Khartoum, and stated that Tehran will continue its support for the African nation.

During the meeting held here in Tehran on Saturday evening, Ahmadinejad stressed expansion of mutual relations, and added that relations between Tehran and Khartoum are based on common Islamic values.

He renewed Iran’s continued support for the Sudanese government and nation, and underlined that arrogant powers are against the progress of independent states.

“The continued pressure on Sudan even after the separation of South Sudan shows that the arrogant powers pursue goals beyond their declared and promised ones,” Ahmadinejad noted.

He further underscored that independent states including Iran and Sudan should do their best for the establishment of justice in the world.

Ababakr, who submitted his credentials to the Iranian President, expressed his country’s willingness for development of relations with Tehran.

“Deepening and development of relations among independent states will deter the divisive plots of arrogant powers,” he said.

Ahmadinejad and his Sudanese counterpart Omar al-Bashir in a meeting in Khartoum late in September asked for increased unity among Muslim nations and governments and their resistance against the plots and conspiracies of the hegemonic powers.

“Today enemies have been mobilized to hit all nations, specially the Islamic nations, with all their power and the former colonialist powers which competed with each other in the past have now become united against the Muslim world under the current conditions,” Ahmadinejad said at the time.

Bashir, for his part, underlined that unity and solidarity today are not an option, but a must and obligation for all Muslims, and stressed that every Muslim “should step on this path and all the plots hatched by the enemies to create a rift and division among Muslims should be unveiled” to the Muslim world.

He asked Tehran and Khartoum to make joint efforts to expand unity and solidarity among Muslims and remove their difference.
