The Lebanese army has detained a man who collaborated with Israeli spy agencies and secret agents operating in the country’s south, a report says.

The man, identified by Lebanese officials as F. Yassin, held covert sessions with Israeli spies in his own tourist resort in the country’s south, Saudi newspaper Okaz quoted Lebanese security officials as saying.

According to the officials, the suspect is expected to have key information about the whereabouts and secret operations of Israeli spies in Lebanon, especially in the country’s south.

Southern Lebanon is a major stronghold of the resistance movement Hezbollah.

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech earlier this month that the Lebanese resistance movement was “fully ready in southern Lebanon,” apparently referring to readiness for a possible conflict with Israel.

“Israel’s threats of another war on Lebanon do not stem from its power because it has lost hope and is concerned,” said Nasrallah.

The Israeli regime has launched an intelligence war against Hezbollah following its defeat during the 33-day war against Hezbollah in 2006.

More than 100 people have been arrested in Lebanon on suspicion of collaborating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency since April 2009, including security forces and telecommunications employees.
