The Syrian Marines, backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), launched a counter-attack against the jihadist rebels in the northern Latakia countryside on Wednesday that concentrated on recapturing the points they lost earlier this week.
According to an Al-Masdar correspondent in northern Latakia, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to recapture ‘Ayn Quntara, ‘Ard Al-Wata, Tal Risha, and Tal Abu Sa’ad in Jabal Al-Akrad after a violent battle with the Turkmen Islamic Party, Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.
The field correspondent added that the only point left to recover is Tal Malk in Jabal Al-Akrad; however, other than this, the Syrian Armed Forces have completely reversed the jihadist offensive in northern Latakia. In addition to recovering these sites, the Syrian Armed Forces killed a significant number of jihadist rebels during their counter-assault, including several foreign fighters of Uyghur descent. Both parties are now firing artillery shells towards one another at Tal Malk, but no firefights have been reported this morning.
