NATO soldier dies in Afghanistan

Taliban militants have killed another NATO soldier in the troubled eastern Afghanistan amid climbing casualties among the foreign forces there.

NATO says the soldier was killed following a gun attack in the volatile region on Tuesday.

There are no details about the nationality of the soldier and the exact location of the incident yet.

The latest death brings the number of foreign troops killed in Afghanistan this year to 170.

Last year was the deadliest year for foreign troops stationed in Afghanistan under the command of the United States, which led the invasion of the country nine years ago. A total of 520 US-led soldiers died during 2009.

Meanwhile, the 126,000 foreign soldiers currently deployed in the country have not been able to stabilize Afghanistan.
