US citizens have no free speech right

freedom-speechAn Iraq War veteran says the US Supreme Court upholds the right of corporations to engage in free speech, but denies the same right to the people of the United States.

Seth Manzel, who was deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday, commenting on the court’s ruling against an antiwar activist who protested near a sensitive Air Force base, rejecting the right of free speech.
The court ruled unanimously that the military had the right to fine John Apel for demonstrating near the Vandenberg Air base in California because the law puts the area under the authority of the base commander. The court also overturned an appeals court ruling that had ruled Apel’s free-speech rights had been violated.
Manzel said: “I think it’s troubling that the US government has upheld its own right to determine who has the right to free speech based on who they consider to be a security risk.”
