Media sources have leaked 3 names of the members that will make up the Syrian delegation set by Damascus to represent it in Geneva 2. Those members will hold a dialogue with opposition under international sponsorship.

Al Akhbar Newspaper reported EU sources that the list includes Syrian PM Wael al-Halaki and other senior officials. A Diplomat also said that Syrian opposition refused some officials because they lack leverage.

Another EU source said that President Bashar al-Assad suggested last March a list of names for possible talks among whom were PM Wael al-Halaki, Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil, Information Minister Omran al-Zobi, Minister of National Reconciliation Ali Haidar and Joseph Swaid Minister in charge of Red Crescent Affairs.

The first diplomat also said: “it is likely that list may undergo changes, and any official in the delegation must have enough leverage to join negotiations.”

another diplomat also said that” Coalition” marked some names as unacceptable, but did not specify any.

As for the newspaper, both diplomats will significantly take part in mapping out peace talks
