Pezeshkian Says US, European Nations Causing Deaths of Palestinian Women and Children
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has criticized the United States and select European countries, accusing them of engaging in hypocritical practices. He stated that weapons produced in these nations' factories are being used globally to harm women and children.

In the southeastern city of Zahedan on Thursday, an individual accused the party of targeting women and children with bombings, declaring “Shame on you!”
Following the adoption of a resolution by the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, which was introduced by Canada and backed by Western nations, accusing Iran of breaching its international obligations, he voiced his comments.
In a vote held on Wednesday, the draft resolution was passed with 77 nations supporting, 28 opposing, and 66 abstaining. The resolution asserted that there has been a decline in “respect for human rights” within the country.
Zahra Ershadi, Iran’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, has criticized a resolution put forth by Canada, describing it as “selective, biased, and hypocritical” in its stance against Iran.
A spokesperson for the Islamic Republic of Iran has firmly dismissed a recent resolution addressing the country’s human rights record, labeling it as unjust and politically driven. The spokesperson acknowledged potential areas for improvement but emphasized the resolution’s selective, biased, and hypocritical nature.
Ershadi has accused Canada and its allies of exhibiting hypocrisy, blatant double standards, and selective application of human rights within their foreign policy framework.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing and safeguarding human rights. The nation intends to persist in its constructive collaboration and engagement with United Nations human rights mechanisms, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
Allegations of human rights violations directed at Iran coincide with worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, attributed to what has been described as Israel’s severe aggression. This development highlights the international community’s inability to halt the escalating crisis.
With support from the United States and its Western allies, Israel initiated military operations in Gaza on October 7, 2023. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of 44,056 Palestinians, a majority of whom are women and children, and has left 104,268 individuals injured. Additionally, thousands remain unaccounted for and are feared to be trapped beneath debris.
